Children's Book Author & Creator of Story Lantern

Nicky Girl - Author

Nicky Girl is a children's book author rooted in San Antonio, Texas, a storyteller, and the founder of Story Lantern, a modern emotional storytelling brand with a social-emotional-learning mission to help children feel brave, included, imaginative, and loved.

Her debut picture book, Omar and the SuperTails: First Day of School, follows Omar as he navigates the nerves, excitement, and unexpected magic of his first day at Animal Academy. With the help of five unforgettable animal friends, Milo, Ellie, Gary, Lola, and Tina, Omar discovers that the very things that make him different are his greatest strengths.

The book was written with intentionality and heart, weaving together themes of social-emotional learning, ADHD/neurodiversity awareness, disability inclusion, and first-day-of-school confidence in a story warm enough for bedtime and rich enough for the classroom.

Story Lantern's mission is to create emotionally safe, imagination-building story experiences for children, stories that feel like a warm light guiding little readers home. Nicky's work has resonated with parents, teachers, school psychologists, librarians, and literacy organizations who believe that the right story at the right moment can change a child's life.

Nicky is available for school visits, library storytimes, virtual author visits, podcast interviews, and speaking engagements.
